Made at Johansfors Glassworks, in the "Crystal Kingdom" of Sweden, this is a medium-sized, mold-blown vintage crystal vase. The shape is softly rectangular, with the corners trimmed off. There are a few tiny bubbles along the outer edges of the rim where the glass met the mold. There are also some fine scratches, especially to the base.
The image of the trumpet-playing page was engraved by pressing the glass against various spinning copper wheels, covered with a bit of abrasive grit. This is a traditional technique, developed in 17th century Bavaria. It's a nice size for display or for a bunch of flowers - about 6" across and 8" tall.
Johansfors Glasbruk was a Swedish glass maker founded in 1891. The current factory with glassblowing and glass furnaces was built in 1955 at the same place where it began in 1891. Sadly, the factory closed in 2014.
Fun fact: my mother's paternal grandfather came from the town of Johansfors!
