This iconic piece of engraved glass from Orrefors bears the national emblem of Sweden, the three crowns (Swedish: tre kronor), which are present in Sweden's heraldic coat of arms. The Swedish American Line of trans-Atlantic ships (SAL), used the three crowns in their marketing, helping to spread the idea of Swedish quality. This piece may have been commissioned by SAL, and the 1963 mark is likely the date of its production. The vase is about 4 inches tall and 3.5 inches across, and it weighs almost 2 pounds.
Orrefors employed master artists and craftsmen, some of whom worked their whole careers of 40, 50, or more years with the company.
